Since 1956, the 'Gesellschaft zur Rettung der Kapuzinergruft' (Society to Save the Capuchin Crypt) has been committed to raise awareness of the problems involved in preserving the crypt and raise funds for the complex restoration work on the coffins. The greatest danger, moisture, has now been eliminated by air conditioning, and the association has been renamed the 'Gesellschaft zur Erhaltung der Kapuzinergruft' (Society for the Preservation of the Capuchin Crypt).
Members are regularly informed about restoration work, and the quarterly newsletter also covers current anniversaries and the history of individual personalities buried here, as well as providing information about new findings.
At the annual general meeting in spring, the crypt management and restorers usually report on their work.
