*03.01.1847 Vienna - †19.07.1848 Prague, Czech Republik
Archduke of Austria
Karl Albert Ludwig was the son of Archduke Albrecht of Austria-Teschen and Hildegard Luise of Bavaria. He died of smallpox in Prague at the age of one.
On July 24, 1848, his small body arrived by post at the Tabor line and was taken in an ordinary hearse to the Capuchin Church, where the blessing and burial took place without any ceremony.
The simple copper coffin with ornamented rod and corner decoration features a coat of arms with the Austrian royal crest on the centre piece, a cross with Christ on the lid, and an inscription plaque. It has six feet. The decorations were added in 1864 at the request of Archduke Albrecht.
The inscription reads:
CAROLVS ALBERTVS. LVDOVICVS. A. A. ALBERTI. A. A. ET HILDEGARDAE. BAV. A. A. FILIVS NATVS. VINDOBONAE D. III. IANVARII. MDCCCXXXXVII MORTVVS. PRAGAE D. XIX. IVLII. MDCCCXXXXVIII. HIC. REQVIESCIT
