Maria Amalia

*15.10.1780 Florence, Italy  -  †25.12.1798 Vienna

Archduchess of Austria

Maria Amalia was the fourth daughter of the Grand Duke of Tuscany and later Emperor Leopold II. and Maria Ludovika of Bourbon-Spain. She was educated by her parents, who were supporters of the French Enlightenment, rather than by a court, as was customary, and, like her 15 siblings, was kept away from the usual court life. In 1790, her father Leopold II. was called to Vienna to inherit the imperial title of his deceased brother.
